Unfortunately, in the real world, not everyone can afford to go out to swanky restaurants and spend a fortune. However, you do not need to have loads of cash to have a fun-filled and romantic date where you can spend some quality time with the other person and get to know them better. By getting creative with what you do on the date, it can also be refreshing and more fun and memorable than your classic dinner and a movie outing.
Cheap, entertaining and a great way to spend some one-on-one time together, this can be a much better date than going to the cinema where you have to spend a fortune, sit with a bunch of strangers and not be able to pause the film and talk. Most people have Netflix or a DVD collection to choose from, so you should not be short of options, and you can of course binge watch many of the incredible TV shows that are out there.
Homemade pizza is a great option, or stock up on popcorn and sweets. Often an overlooked date idea, museums are a great way to spend a date as they will always spark conversation and are sure to be a memorable experience. Ideally, it will be a museum or art exhibition that both of you are interested in, but you could also visit one that neither of you know anything about or one that one of you likes.
It is worth noting, however, that many museums are very quiet so you may want to go for a coffee or for a walk after so that you can discuss the experience together. The majority of us take our own town for granted and do not know more than where the best bars are, but many big towns and cities have a range of tours which can be great fun on a date.
This could include a walking or bus tour of the town, and in addition to learning a thing or two, it can be a fun activity for the two of you to share. These tours can be particularly good if one of you lives out of town, but they can also be enjoyable and an eye-opening experience if you are both from the area.

This was brilliant. Done it the past couple of years. You can get on and off if you like but I like We found out your name from one of the other drivers. There are 3 routes covered by these tourist buses and between them will take you round most of the island. You can get off at any of the stops and be picked up later. The Ryde to Yarmouth service gives you around one and a half hours in Yarmouth, probably enough, but time to get something to eat and walk round this attractive little town.
I suggest the first thing you do is get a bus timetable and find out where you can get to from your accomodation by bus. You may never take the car out again! Especially if you have a senior’s bus pass. Really enjoyed the island breezer, little one fell asleep so we went round twice! Covered Yarmouth up to the needles battery Only bad point is it doesn’t go all the way round the island, just a few miles up to the needles from Yarmouth.
But it was an absolutely lovely journey, skimming the trees and winding your way up and down a hairpin bend to the needles.

Making Tracks in the Peak District. December 2, Earlier this November, on an otherwise gloomy, damp and unpromising Saturday we found ourselves watching the boats of Portsmouth harbour slip by as we munched on pain-au-chocolate on board a Wightlink ferry to the Isle of Wight. As a girl I spent a lot of time in Portsmouth with my Grandad. Perhaps psychologically it feels further away because of that slim channel of water of the Solent that lies between the island and the mainland.
It is in the English Channel , between 2 and 5 miles off the coast of Hampshire , separated by the Solent. The island has resorts that have been holiday destinations since Victorian times , and is known for its mild climate, coastal scenery, and verdant landscape of fields, downland and chines. It has a maritime and industrial tradition including boat-building , sail-making, the manufacture of flying boats , the hovercraft , and Britain’s space rockets.
The island hosts annual music festivals including the Isle of Wight Festival , which in was the largest rock music event ever held. The isle was owned by a Norman family until and was earlier a kingdom in its own right, Wihtwara. The island has played an important part in the defence of the ports of Southampton and Portsmouth , and been near the front-line of conflicts through the ages, including the Spanish Armada and the Battle of Britain.
Rural for most of its history, its Victorian fashionability and the growing affordability of holidays led to significant urban development during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Historically part of Hampshire , the island became a separate administrative county in It continued to share the Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire until , when it was made its own ceremonial county.
